Task 3: Recommendations

Colorado Plateau Region
Based on the methodology presented thus far, there is one tribe in the Colorado Plateau region that is not represented by an IMPROVE monitoring site.
The Pueblo of Acoma is located 70 km west of the Albuquerque metropolitan area.
The majority of land in the Pueblo of Acoma in located in a remote region of New Mexico although Interstate 40 runs through the northern portion of the tribal land and the city of Grants is less than 10 km from the northwest corner of the tribal boundary.  The Bosque del Apache IMPROVE site, BOAP1, is located 92 km to the southeast.  The BOAP1 site may not adequately represent the Pueblo of Acoma since it is sheltered to the west by the Magdalena Mountains and influenced by flow in the Rio Grande River Valley within reach of the Albuquerque metropolitan area sources.  Given the zone of representation of 91 km in this region, we recommend a new site to represent this tribe.
