Northern Utah (Great Basin Region)

| Based on the methodology
presented thus far, there is one tribe in northern Utah within the Great
Basin region that is not represented by an IMPROVE monitoring site. |

The
Northwestern Band of the Shoshoni Nation is 130 km north of Salt Lake City. |
|

| The nearest IMPROVE protocol
monitor is the Lone Peak site, LOPE1, located 170 km to the south. The
LOPE1 site may not adequately represent the tribe because of its close proximity
to the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. Because of its location, the
aerosol in the tribal area may be at times influenced by Salt Lake City
sources transported north over the Great Salt Lake. |

| Given the lack of IMPROVE
aerosol measurements in this region, we recommend a new
site to represent this tribe. |
