Yavapai-Apache
Tribe |
|
The Phoenix metropolitan area, population of
approximately 1.5 million, lies ~ 80 km (50 mi) south of the tribe.
The city of Flagstaff, population 53,000 (2002), is located 56 km (35 mi)
north-northeast of the reservation. The city of Prescott (population
~34,000) is located ~40 km (25 mi) northwest of the monitoring site.
Local sources of particulate matter that could affect aerosol measurements
at the tribe are primarily from wildland fire emissions and road
dust. Road dust emissions may be of major significance if there is
considerable unpaved road traffic. Traffic on interstate 17 will also
generate elemental carbon from diesel vehicle exhaust. |
